Hey folks,
Today I get to talk about one of the least fun parts of running a larp, money. The pandemic induced break whittled away at our savings in a way that we didn’t start feeling until now.
Before I spike anyone’s anxiety I’ll clarify that we are not shutting down or cancelling events or anything like that, and we are not planning an increase in event costs. But our belts are much tighter than we would like them to be going into the final year of the campaign. So, why am I telling you this? First, because I believe you all deserve transparency around the health of the business at the heart of our community. Second, because there are a few things you can do to help.
Recruitment. I’m not asking you all to go full MLM and start bombarding your friends, family, and that one guy on Facebook that your met back in 2010. But if you’ve got a person or people who have been on the fence about coming to LIONE, give them that extra nudge. I know coming in in the final year of a campaign can be daunting, but it can also be a great opportunity for folks to get a sense of us and our game to then be able to build into L8 with greater connection and confidence.
Donate. We always prefer for folks to get something for their money, but if, for some strange reason, you just want to give us money like a crazy person, we are opening a store option for you to do just that. We are a 501(c)(7) non-for-profit, so donations are not tax deductible, but we can promise a hearty thank you.
Buy Stuff. Specifically, we will be offering a few CP promotions. For reference, currently the rolling CP floor has been brought up to 100 and the current cap is 265 and we have folks at both ends of that spectrum and everywhere in between.
First, we have CP Catch-Up pricing where you will get a discounted price based on how far behind your character is. From 100-150 $5 a point. From 151-200 is $10 a point. And 201+ is $15 a point.
Further, a much requested twist to that $15 a point level -- CP Donation.
When you buy CP at this level there will be a required comment field. Write the name of the character that CP is going to. You can send the CP to anybody you wish, not just your own characters. In addition, if you put “General” we will add that CP to a shared pool. At the end of the promotion, that General CP will be shared out evenly among our active players with the least CP.
We are running this promotion until October 9th, Krushkov Event 11.
